Air Capital Gun Club is a non-profit corporation chartered by the State of Kansas. It is composed of a membership interested in the safe, legal, sporting use of rifles and handguns. The Club is affiliated with the National Rifle Association (NRA), International Handgun Metallic Silhouette Association (IHMSA), Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP), and The Kansas State Rifle Association.
The members are the owners and operators of the club. All planning, development and maintenance of club facilities are performed by an Executive Committee and member volunteers. The club has no paid employees.
The club owns twelve acres of land northeast of Wichita on which four ranges have been constructed for handgun and rifle shooting. The ranges are open to all members at any time during daylight hours except when scheduled shooting events are taking place or maintenance is being performed. Members are informed of match schedules and planned maintenance activity in a monthly club newsletter.
The purpose of the Club is to promote the shooting sports. This is best stated in the Object Section of the Club By-laws:
The object of this organization shall be the encouragement of organized rifle and pistol shooting among citizens of the United States resident in our community, with a view toward better knowledge on the part of such citizens of the safe handling and proper care of firearms, as well as improved marksmanship. Special emphasis shall be given to the education of the youth of the community in the safe and proper use of firearms. It shall be our further object and purpose to forward the development of those characteristics of honesty, good fellowship, self-discipline, team play, and self-reliance which are the essentials of good sportsmanship and the foundation of true patriotism."
